Adalbert-LouisBONN (19th–20th centuries): “Woman with Hands on Hips,” oil oncanvas, 73 × 48 cm, mounted in a flocked frame measuring 88 × 65 cm—slightly too large.
Dated 1935, re-lined, non-standard format.
Very little is known about the artist: aside from a work that went in 2013, he is absent from the market; there is a Swede born in 1871 and who died in 1952 who might be a match, but there is no certainty !
That’s a real shame because, with this “wiped” technique—somewhere between Toulouse-Lautrec and Egon Schiele—we’d love to see more of his work.
Our Lady, fists on her hips—perhaps a singer—seems to bebe looking down at an intruder below.
