Born in Paris on July 4, 1933, Roger Blaquière studied at the Applied Arts and then at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris, where he won the first Prize for Monumental Art in 1958 as well as a scholarship to the Casa de Velázquez in Madrid, where he stayed in 1959. In 1961, he won the second Prix de Rome for painting and then the first Grand Prix in 1963. From 1964 to 1967, he stayed at the Villa Medici under the direction of Balthus. He settled in Sarthe in 1967 and taught at the École des Beaux-Arts du Mans until 1995. He exhibited regularly at the Visconti gallery, rue de Seine, in Paris until 1994, presented his works at numerous exhibitions and collaborated with the museums of Le Mans, among others.
