Theodule Augustin Ribot : "boats Near The Shore"

Théodule Augustin Ribot (1823-1891) (attributed to): “Boats near the shore”, ink and brush drawing 11 X 25 cm on paper washed with a pink gradient, mounted by a neutral pH mat in a reverse slope light oak frame 43 X 54 cm.
An annotation from the previous owner appeared on the back of the old mount: “Marie-José S. 11 1993 Purchased in Paris Louvre des Antiquaires”.
This extraordinary artist was one of my favorites from the beginning because I had bought an old book on him and we have a wonderful one in Pau "The Good Samaritan", fortunately enriched with his preparatory study for about fifteen years, and yet, I did not know these drawings bordering on abstraction or certain Far Eastern artists, all suggestion, letting us guess sailboats near the coast during low tide which reveals bouchots...
Unsigned, it is also reminiscent of Whistler's aide-mémoire studies which he later used to create his etchings.
