To me, this kilim seems to perfectly embody an age-old formula that brings its elements together as in a recipe.

Balance as the foundation in a rare and compact format, combined with a masterfully executed harmony of hues, results in a subtle elegance.

This is the very art of ancient Caucasian weavings.
It is also simplicity in the service of refinement.

This succession of colorful horizontal bands, embellished with geometric motifs, gives the surface an aesthetic appeal and makes it instantly engaging.
Every time I have the opportunity to display this piece in our Gallery, I find myself thinking: “It’s beautiful.”
Another distinctive feature is the complete absence of borders, which allows the eye what I would call a visual and aesthetic liberation that projects us into infinity.

This is, of course, a Shirvan kilim from Azerbaijan in the Caucasus.
Traditionally woven using the wool-on-wool technique.
The weave is fine and very even.
The piece is highly graphic and decorative; it would be perfect for a modern, minimalist interior, where it would become a centerpiece that highlights all the other elements of a living room.

The contrasts are subtle. The overall effect is deeply moving—something that simply cannot be replicated.
