Polychrome Lacquered Armoire With Canted Corners, Northern Italy, Alto Veneto, 18th Century
Lacquered armoire with canted corners, fitted with two doors and a drawer to the base, featuring fine polychrome decoration in tones of blue, red, and ochre. The doors and drawer front are adorned with shaped, gently raised panels, while the corner posts, also decorated, follow the piece's canted profile. The structure is crowned by a bold, projecting moulded cornice, while a moulded plinth at the base completes its balanced proportions. The doors retain their original shaped wrought-iron escutcheons and matching key, along with the original ring pulls on the drawer. A piece of notable integrity, retaining its original lacquer, working lock, interior shelves, and plank backboard.
