Antique Carved Walnut Cassone With Figures, Venetian 17th C.
Beautiful antique cassone in walnut wood with carved front panels: at either end, two reclining female figures; at the centre, a coat of arms. The panels are framed and surrounded by a scale-carved border, with scrolling rosettes to the corners. Fine gadrooned decoration to the base, feet carved as lion's paws. The top has a moulding with an ogee-profile edge. The cassone retains its original side carrying handles.
Piece dating to the 17th century, still in a 16th-century (Cinquecento) taste.
