Daum Vase Depicting A Snow-covered Forest: Winter Landscape With Two Handles
Artist: Daum Nancy 1900-1910
A wide-mouthed vase featuring an Impressionist depiction of a winter forest.
The sense of depth is created by a powder-coated design sandwiched between two layers of glass.
The trees were etched with acid and highlighted with natural enamel. The bark and traces of snow on the trunks, the white snow on the ground with pink highlights, and the golden-orange sky of a winter evening evoke the poetry of a living painting.
A label found at the back of an old shop in Bordeaux (Kintzel) partially covers the black signature.
Two handles with a yellow-orange surface finish were applied using a heat-setting process.
A very beautiful, always spectacular, and fairly rare piece with its handles
Circa 1900–1910 (according to reference works)
