Richard Burgsthal (1884-1944) and Loetz Glassworks. Soliflore vase in acid-etched, multi-layered glass. Globular body with a brown thistle motif on a milky white background, continuing onto the long, flared neck. From 1912, Richard Burgsthal, whose real name was René Billa, acquired a sand quarry and the Sablons glassworks in the Chevreuse Valley with Gustave Fayet. He settled in Bièvres and developed his own manufacturing techniques there. However, the production of vases signed "Richard" was carried out by the renowned Loetz Witwe glassworks, located at the time in Klostermühle, South Bohemia. This production was active between 1920 and 1929. Condition: presence of air bubbles that did not burst during firing; a small chip located at the base.
