Bronze Animal Sculpture Of A Working Horse Grazing, By Hermann Hubacher, Switzerland

Artist: Hermann Hubacher (1885-1976)
Lost-wax bronze sculpture of a working horse grazing.
With blinders on, we can assume that after a hard day’s work in the fields, this horse is enjoying its meal.
This bronze sculpture, with its lovely size and red-tinged medal patina, was cast using the lost-wax technique by Mario Pastori (square stamp on the base).
A few minor traces of oxidation that do not affect the presentation.
Signature on the rear base: Hubacher 1940

A highly renowned Swiss sculptor.

Hubacher’s favorite subject is the human body. According to the catalog raisonné, his body of work includes nearly 400 sculptures, as well as drawings and watercolors.

Hubacher is a member of the Gleyre Foundation and the Gottfried Keller Foundation, from 1926 to 1929 on the Federal Commission for Fine Arts and, for a time, its president; from 1951 to 1969 on the board of the Oskar Reinhart Foundation in Winterthur; and for many years president of the Pro Arte Foundation[3]. The city of Zurich awarded him its first art prize in 1944, and the University of Zurich conferred an honorary doctorate upon him in 1945."....
