The decoration, in cartouches, depicts a pair of cranes with their chicks (gruons) among bamboo, chrysanthemums, plum blossoms, and vases.
Cobalt blue underglaze and iron red, highlighted with gold, compose this delicate scene.
The gilt bronze mounts are in the Rococo style with floral acanthus leaves and openwork bases.
The pieces are beautifully cast with assembly markings and refined chasing.
The base of each vase features a delicate floral bouquet.
Both vases are marked in ink with the name Cresson and numbered 2 and 4.
The iconography of the pair of cranes symbolizes immortality, good fortune, and longevity due to their long lifespan and endurance during migrations. Faithful for life and possessing a distinctive courtship display, cranes are associated with commitment and fidelity in love. They also represent wisdom, nobility, courage, and joy. A very auspicious omen for these beautiful objects. Total height 15.5 cm, width 14 cm
