Paul Nicolas Argental Spinning Top Vase With Red Roses And Yellow Background
Artist: Paul Nicolas (1875-1952)
Very beautiful and rare Paul Nicolas vase in the shape of a spinning top with red roses on a yellow ("poste") background.
Acid etching work (Gallé technique) of the upper layer in two stages for two depths of rendering (pale red and bright red), then details reworked with the wheel.
The rendering of the natural roses is exceptional, as well as the distribution of the rose bush around the vase, denotes great technicality.
Few of these vases remain, circa 1920.
Signature: D'Argental (period when the Saint Louis crystal factory supplied the "whites" between 1919 and 1925).
A very beautiful object
