Pretty ceramic pillbox titled “The Dance of the Fairies” by Marcel Chaufriasse, based on a design by Joe Descomps.
A beautiful, delicate pillbox made of slip-on-slip technique, decorated with two winged fairies dancing around a swarm of butterflies. Their veils flutter away, revealing them nude. The entire decoration is in white slip on a midnight blue background, typical of Chaufriasse’s work. The lower rim of the box is decorated with a plant frieze accented with gold.
9 cm in diameter, in perfect condition, signed on the base by Chaufriasse and on the lid by Joe Descomps, the renowned sculptor.
A true little gem, featuring two illustrious signatures and a very poetic theme.
