Pair Of Porcelain Plates, Decorated In Blue. China, 18th Century. Imperial Quality.

Artist: Jingdezhen
Pair of porcelain plates, decorated in blue. China, 18th century. Imperial quality.

Hard-paste Chinese porcelain plates, Jingdezhen kilns, Qianlong period. Adorned with a design of plants, flowers, and emblems in cobalt blue underglaze, exquisitely painted. These pieces were undoubtedly made for export to Europe, yet their quality matches that of the finest porcelain produced for the Imperial Palace. The designs are exceptionally meticulous, complex, and required extraordinary craftsmanship. Creations of this caliber were executed by the finest painters at the Jingdezhen factory. This was a special commission placed by a prominent figure. It is possible that there was a complete service, though we are not aware of any other pieces of this quality. One dish is in perfect condition; the other has a chip on the rim. There is a slight difference in color; the blue on one is slightly darker than on the other, which is due to the variations in the firing process. We can sell them separately, as such porcelain pieces are collected individually rather than as part of a set. Diameter: 233 mm.
