Hirado Porcelain Monkey. Japan 19th Century.
Artist: Hirado
Hirado porcelain monkey, Japan 19th century. He holds in his hand a peach enamelled in brown iron oxide and cobalt blue. Rare model, we know of a similar monkey that is housed at Lacma (Los Angeles County Museum of Art). Our monkey must be a little older because there are differences in quality, such as the expression of the face, the folds of the coat, the thinness of the ears and the curve of the limbs. Good condition. Height 15cm.
