Amitayu Buddha In Gilt Bronze, Zanabazar Style. Mongolia 1900.
Artist: Zanabazar
Amitayu statuette in lost-wax cast bronze. Remains of gilding. Very fine casting and meticulous finishing, chasing and scraping. Very worn gilding, of which only traces remain. The high copper content gives a red bronze, but the fusion was not homogeneous and yellow spots can be seen. Beautiful old work by Mongolian artists made in the spirit of the prestigious 17th century Zanabazar bronzes, from which they drew inspiration without copying. Mongolia, probably Ulaanbaatar, circa 1900. Good condition, no missing parts, no restoration. Very worn gilding. Height 19cm.
