Bouquet Of Flowers In Jade And Agate. China Qing Dynasty.
The bouquet is composed of flowers whose petals are cut from various semi-precious stones: jade, amethyst, agate, malachite and carnelian. The stamens are made of glass paste, while the stems are made of iron covered with threads of green silk, originally but now faded. The trunk of the shrub is not natural, but reconstituted. The base is rectangular, cut from a simple plank of wood. This type of bouquet was presented in jardinières, often in gilded bronze, sometimes cloisonné, but also in lacquered and carved wood. Our bouquet has lost its jardinière, which had to be destroyed. It will fit perfectly into a new, incomplete jardinière. Dimensions: 45x45x40cm. Wooden base: 213X133mm. Some petals missing, some broken. Chinese work from the Qing period 18°-19° century.
