An elegant black-lacquered drop-leaf secretary desk in the Boulle style, dating from the mid-19th century. Its understated, architectural silhouette is beautifully enhanced by rich gilded bronze ornamentation, including mascarons, beaded moldings, keyholes, drop handles, corner sconces, and feet, in the purest spirit of the ceremonial furniture of the Napoleon III era, inspired by the designs of cabinetmaker André-Charles Boulle.

The piece is topped with an elegant veined black marble slab, adding contrast and refinement. The drop-down panel, adorned with a gilded bronze frame and a prominent central motif, opens to reveal a fully equipped interior featuring a stepped compartment, six small drawers, a central drawer, and a writing shelf lined with burgundy velvet. This layout provides a workspace that is both practical and elegant.

The lower section features three drawers on the front, while an additional drawer is located beneath the marble top. The drawers are joined with dovetail joints, attesting to meticulous craftsmanship. The piece is adorned with finely chiseled locks and bronze fittings.

The secretary desk features a beautiful original patina. A few slight signs of wear, consistent with its age, are visible but do not detract from its appearance or functionality.
