Renaissance Two-part Walnut Cabinet And Sideboard, 17th Century
A rare and impressive two-part sideboard made of solid walnut from the 17th century.
This piece features architecture characteristic of late Renaissance furniture, with its powerful fluted pilasters, panels with molded moldings, and abundant carved decoration.
The cornice is adorned with three finely carved winged angel heads, framing the doors of the upper section.
The upper section opens to an interior that was originally lined with marbled paper and features three small drawers on the front.
The lower section consists of two wide drawers surmounting a storage compartment closed by two doors.
The piece captivates with the quality of its walnut, its beautiful antique patina, and its harmonious proportions.
The deep moldings, high-relief carvings, and sturdy construction attest to the craftsmanship of 17th-century French workshops.
