Mahogany Weekly Planner – Empire/restoration Period – Black Marble And Gilded Bronze
An elegant mahogany weekly planner, dating from the first half of the 19th century, in the Empire-Restoration style.
Featuring an architectural design, the front opens to reveal seven drawers, offering ample storage space.
The drawer fronts showcase beautiful, carefully arranged wood grain.
The top drawer is fitted with two ring handles featuring gilded bronze lion’s paws.
The vertical sides are accented with chiseled and gilded bronze fittings featuring figurative designs, as well as small decorative blocks at the bottom.
An interesting feature is that one of the drawers conceals a sliding, fold-down writing shelf, upholstered in green leather with gold-stamped decorative motifs.
The piece rests on four legs; the front legs are particularly striking, carved in the shape of lion’s paws, reinforcing its Empire style.
It is topped with a black marble top that extends slightly beyond the sides.
This weekly planner, both decorative and functional, features fine cabinetmaking and elegant proportions.
