Reliquary of Saint Francis de Sales and Saint de Chantal, set in a silver medallion. Authentic, folded at the back of the frame with a blackened baguette frame and domed glass.
Reliquary sealed with a cord against the red velvet background of the frame.Original protective domed glass; a handwritten cartouche on the back of the frame indicating the presence of the Authentic.
Set dated 1890 (in Latin, on the Authentic). Embossed seal of the Bishop of Annecy (1890).
Dimensions:
Oval frame: 14 x 12.5 cm.
Reliquary: 2.5 cm high.
In good condition. Slight tear, previously restored, on the back of the frame containing the Authentique.

" ALOYSIUS ROMAN ERNEST ISOARDBY THE GRACE OF GOD AND OF THE APOSTOLIC SEEBISHOP OF ANNECY
To all who read this letter, we attest, by our faith, that for the greater glory of God and the veneration of His saints, we have recognized the holy relics of the flesh of Saint Francis de Sales and Saint Jeanne-Françoise de Chantal, taken from authentic sites, and, after venerating them, have placed them in an oval silver reliquary, closed with a red silk cord and sealed with our seal, with permission to display them in any church within our diocese for the veneration of the faithful.
It is in this faith that we have ordered that these letters, signed by our Bishop and sealed with our seal, be sent by our undersigned secretary. Done at Annecy, in our palace, on the twentieth of August, eighteen hundred and ninety."
