The Music Lesson, after the work painted in 1535 by Tiziano Vecellio (1488-1576), known as Titian, a major painter of the Venetian school.
The painting shows a group of people attending a music lesson.
The young woman on the left appears captivated by the music she hears; the man dressed in black is likely the teacher, giving instructions. The instrumentalist is dressed in red, while the singer sits holding the score.
The light, coming from the window, draws our attention to the faces and to the teacher's hand with its pointing finger.
The interplay of light and shadow creates an intimate atmosphere.
A very fine work, with beautifully rendered drapery and expressive faces.
The settings, costumes, and headdresses are reminiscent of Venetian fashion. The reverse of the canvas is marked with the name of the canvas manufacturer "BAIAT" in Grenoble.
The trade in linen and fabrics between Italy and manufacturers in Lyon and Grenoble flourished at this time.
Dimensions: 40.5 × 32 cm.
Some old restorations. Painting in very good condition. A magnificent musical moment frozen in time.
