Polychrome Wooden Beads From Eastern Europe
A beautiful and unusual collection of polychrome turned wooden beads. Folk art originating in Eastern Europe, possibly Russia, mid-20th century. Spindle-shaped, ovoid, disc-shaped, colored, gilded, or silvered, each piece requires skill in woodworking and painting.
A few pretty Rudraksha seeds (approximately 1.3 cm in diameter) are also included. Presented in a black Napoleon III-style "pencil case" box made of wood and papier-mâché (17.5 x 29 cm), with a functional clasp.
The spindle-shaped beads are approximately 5 cm long (located in the lower left corner of the box).
Highly decorative. The beads are not glued, allowing the beader to handle them and admire their diversity.
