An important shaped piece in heavy crystal, blown and worked by hand.

This model may be used as a jardinière, a vase, or a table centerpiece.

The material consists of clear crystal overlaid with a layer of amethyst-colored crystal. The wheel-cutting technique cuts through the colored layer to reveal the transparency of the underlying crystal.

Flared form resting on a wide, plain circular pedestal foot in a dark color.

Rich cut decoration arranged in registers. Around the rim, a broad and complex frieze combining geometric motifs, crosshatching, and fine vertical striations. On the body, an alternation of wide flat ribs and deep lancet cuts creates a play of light and contrast between the deep violet tone and the brilliance of the clear crystal.

No signature or stamp, which is characteristic of productions by major manufacturers such as Val Saint-Lambert, Saint-Louis, or Baccarat prior to the 1930s.

Remarkable state of preservation: clear crystal, with no cracks, chips, or visible restoration.
