Porcelain Tea Cup And Saucer Set #1 From The Ca Mau Shipwreck (c. 1725)

A blue-and-white porcelain tea cup and saucer set from the shipwreck discovered off the coast of Ca Mau (Vietnam).
This shipwreck was excavated by archaeologists in 1997, who dated it to around 1725.
Part of the cargo was sold by Sotheby’s in Amsterdam in 2007.
This piece features a floral, repetitive design.
The undersides of both pieces are covered with an iron-brown slip, which was highly prized in Holland in the early 18th century (“Batavian glaze”).
Saucer diameter: 11 cm. Total weight: 92 g.
Very good condition, with no cracks or chips.
