Louis XVI Coffee Table, 18th Century

Small Louis XVI-style dressing table from the late 18th century.

High-quality inlay work in precious woods.

Charming rectangular chiffonnière resting on four tapered legs with square cross-sections, in the Louis XVI decorative style.

The entire piece is veneered with richly grained precious wood arranged in a curly pattern, forming an elegant geometric design on all sides, accentuated by framing fillets.
The front opens with an upper flap revealing a storage compartment as well as two stacked drawers, adorned with their lock plates and original chiseled bronze hardware.

The top features a remarkable marquetry design centered on an oval medallion depicting an 18th-century pastoral scene: a young woman in a lively landscape, a windmill, rural architecture, and vegetation, all framed by a delicately engraved frieze of foliage.
This composition is set against a radiating background of rosewood or palisander veneer, enhanced by a fillet border.

The sides are crafted as architectural panels with rectangular recesses, reflecting particularly meticulous craftsmanship even in the secondary details.
The tapered legs lend the piece a great sense of visual lightness and a typically neoclassical elegance.

The quality of the veneer, the harmony of the proportions, and the delicacy of the inlaid decoration evoke French or European pieces from the late 18th century, crafted in the spirit of the refined furniture of the reign of Louis XVI.

In good overall condition.
Some signs of wear, slight shrinkage cracks, and minor maintenance repairs consistent with its age.
Original hardware present.
Beautiful, warm patina and original varnish that highlight the nuances of the veneer.
