19th-century Brass Seal With Interchangeable Die.

A very interesting seal with interchangeable dies.

The seal is made of brass with a square cross-section and is entirely decorated with romantic motifs such as putti, ancient profiles, volutes, quiver birds, etc.

The hollow handle reveals a small “drawer” that normally holds additional dies. Unfortunately, it is empty.

A double-sided die is present:

. On one side, a bouquet of flowers and the inscription “J’attends”

. The other side bears the inscription “Te perdant je suis perdu” along with a ship tossed by the waves.

This die is held in place by a small removable frame.

Although rare, it is possible to find “orphan” dies to complete this beautiful object.
