Pedal Harp With Figurative Decoration, Circa 1780
A pedal harp featuring a gilded head and column shaped like a capital, resting on a base adorned with a fluted frieze and legs shaped like lion’s paws. The soundboard of the body, which is otherwise lacquered black, is decorated with delicate polychrome grotesque figures depicting amphorae filled with flowers and female figures holding lyres and garlands. The strings are incomplete. Requires restoration.
