Summer Hora, Cast Zinc Statue, Late 19th Century
Life-size cast zinc statue of a young woman dressed in classical drapery and holding a scroll, with a wicker basket filled with fruit at her side. One arm is missing. The figure probably represents one of the Horae, who traditionally embody spring, summer and autumn - in this case, the allegory of summer. The sculpture has undergone extensive professional restoration and has been mounted on a custom-made base. Provenance: Royal Danish Horticultural Society
