An elegant and rare, prestigious silver cane handle entirely covered with a remarkable polychrome cloisonné enamel decoration, a testament to the exceptional refinement of the decorative arts of Imperial Russia at the turn of the 20th century.
Curved in shape, it features a rich decoration of foliage, volutes, and stylized floral motifs executed in a particularly harmonious palette combining cobalt blues, emerald greens, powdery pinks, purples, yellows, and oranges.
The delicacy of the silver partitions, the density of the decoration, and the remarkable technical mastery attest to the expertise of the great Russian workshops specializing in enameled silverwork during the final years of the tsars’ reign.
The piece is hallmarked 84, corresponding to the official fineness of Russian imperial silver (875/1000), as well as the so-called “Kokoshnik,” depicting a female head turned to the left, a hallmark used between 1899 and 1908.
Intended to adorn a prestigious cane, this handle was a true status symbol reserved for a wealthy clientele, combining elegance, ostentation, and exceptional craftsmanship.
The set is in remarkable condition. The enamels have retained all their freshness, luster, and subtle chromatic balance—a quality that has become relatively rare on the current market.
With its refinement, this piece is part of the great tradition of Russian decorative arts from the Belle Époque, whose works remain particularly sought after by international collectors today.
