"Corsican Stylus With Its Sheath"
France, 19th century. Steel, brass, horn, wood, and leather. Overall length: 25 cm. Stylus length: 22.8 cm. Blade length: 12.5 cm. Width at the heel: 2.5 cm. DESCRIPTION: HIGH-END. This refined 19th-century Corsican stiletto is distinguished by the purity of its lines and the quality of its steel blade, polished to a mirror shine. Single-edged with a perfectly clear false edge, the blade features a clean ricasso and a superbly executed thumb rest, characteristics of traditional Corsican craftsmanship. The remarkably elegant handle consists of a grip formed by alternating layers of finely striated horn rings, punctuated by delicate brass washers. The whole is framed by a brass ferrule and bolster, the precise workmanship of which gives it a highly refined finish. The original scabbard, made of wood covered in black leather, is adorned with a brass chape and locket. It retains its suspension ring, completing the integrity and traditional aesthetic of the piece. CONDITION: Very good overall condition, bright blade, clean fittings, and complete scabbard.
