Pair Of Cotton Batiste Curtains With White Trimmings - France, Late 18th–early 19th Century

Late 18th–early 19th century
France

Pair of white cotton batiste curtains, collected from a château in southwestern France. A pair of curtains for a window or canopy, made of very fine, tightly woven cotton and entirely hand-sewn. Large diagonal flaps trimmed with white cotton trimmings featuring knotted cords and tassels (a few missing sections). Original pleated top with tie fastenings on the first curtain, and buttons and tie fastenings on the second. These curtains have been cleaned and are in good condition, with no holes or stains, retaining the snow-white hue of 18th-century cotton. Ready for use in a historical decor setting. In excellent overall condition. Other identical pairs from the same set are available for sale.

Dimensions: 300 cm high by 140 cm wide each, including a hem of approximately 95 cm. Width of the gathered top: 75 cm.
