Gilles Sacksick is a French painter, engraver and lithographer born in Paris on August 31, 1942. Passionate about drawing since childhood, he discovered the great masters of painting at the Louvre very early on. He exhibited for the first time in Paris in 1967, then organized his first personal exhibition in 1968. His work gives an important place to portraiture, still life, landscape and animal painting. In 1979, he received the Paul-Louis Weiller Portrait Grand Prize from the Institut de France. From 1979 to 1981, he stayed at the Casa de Velázquez in Madrid, an important stage in his career. Influenced in particular by Francisco de Zurbarán, he developed a figurative style marked by light and contrasts. From the 1980s, his works were exhibited in France and internationally, notably in London, New York, Tokyo and Osaka. In 2005, he founded the lithographic workshop “Litho-Lissac” in Corrèze in order to promote prints and art books. Having lived for a long time in the Lot and Corrèze, he left behind a rich and recognized work after his death in 2025 at the age of 83.
