Still life painter.
Encouraged by an attentive teacher, he joined the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon,
where he trained in the classical techniques of academic drawing and oil painting.
He exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon from 1870 to 1905. He presented 6 of his paintings at the first Impressionist exhibition at Nadar in 1874.
While his work includes scenes of daily life and rural landscapes, the painter stands out above all as a specialist in still life.
He displays a remarkable sense of detail and composition, combined with a subtle work of shadows and lights that highlights the different textures and nuances of the fruits.
