Wedgwood Fairyland Lustre Bowl With Dragon, Pattern Z4828, C.1915
Designed by Daisy Makeig-Jones, this rare Wedgwood Fairyland Lustre bowl dates to around 1915 and corresponds to the factory pattern Z4828. The design combines a pearl-grey Turkish-Blue Lustre exterior with a luminous Yellow Lustre interior featuring a finely painted dragon.
Scattered gilt Oriental motifs decorate the exterior, while the interior displays rich iridescence and exceptionally detailed dragon decoration. The unusual colour palette distinguishes this example from more commonly encountered Fairyland Lustre bowls and demonstrates the imaginative approach that made Daisy Makeig-Jones famous.
An attractive display piece and a desirable collector's example from one of Wedgwood's most celebrated decorative ranges. Its cabinet size makes it particularly suitable for display alongside other Fairyland Lustre pieces or within a specialised ceramics collection.
