Pair Of Napoleon III Lamps With Herons - Second Empire Vases And Lampshades With Lake Décor

Elegant pair of lamps made from two decorative metal vases (art zinc) with medal patina from the Napoleon III period, in the archaeological taste characteristic of the Second Empire.

The vases feature relief decoration inspired by Antiquity, depicting a heron resting on a tortoise and holding a snake in one of its paws. This iconography is part of the great movement of rediscovery of Greco-Roman art born of the excavations of Herculaneum and Pompeii at the end of the 18th century, a decorative vocabulary that would remain particularly appreciated throughout the 19th century and especially under Napoleon III.

The lampshades were made in our workshop. They are made of decorative cardboard paper laminated on polyphane and adorned with a lacustrian decoration featuring a heron in a pond landscape. The two lampshades form a harmonious pair thanks to deliberately opposite decorations, offering an elegant visual dialogue when presented together.

The set has been fully electrified to current standards and is in perfect working order. This pair is ready to take its place in a classic interior, a mansion of character or a 19th-century-inspired setting.
