Charming small globular stoneware vase signed by the French ceramic artists Yvonne Syve and Josiane Chaudet. Though modest in scale, the piece immediately stands out for the exceptional quality of its glaze and the richness of its surface effects.

Its simple and balanced form allows the glaze to take centre stage. Deep shades of black, charcoal and midnight blue merge across the surface, revealing subtle variations depending on the light. At times the finish evokes polished volcanic stone; at others, a star-filled night sky. This visual complexity contrasts beautifully with the purity of the shape, giving the vase an unexpectedly strong presence despite its small size.

The incised signature beneath the base identifies the work as a creation by the duo Yvonne Syve and Josiane Chaudet, respected figures in French studio ceramics of the second half of the twentieth century.
