Longwy Vase Model Amanda Umberto, 1988
A magnificent and rare vase from the Émaux des Récollets manufactory in Longwy, bearing the signature “Amanda Umberto” and dated 1988.
This model stands out for its particularly dynamic and modern decoration, combining stylised vegetal motifs with a vibrant colour palette. At the heart of the composition, a brightly coloured bird offers cherries to its chick, in a scene that is both tender and decorative. This motif, rendered with great graphic freedom, is integrated into a network of sinuous lines and almost abstract forms, evoking a reinterpreted vision of nature.
Deep blues, vivid reds and rich greens interact with the white crackled ground, characteristic of Longwy enamels, which brings texture and depth to the surface. The whole reflects a strong decorative approach, typical of the manufactory’s renewal during the 1980s.
A large and highly decorative piece.

A piece that captivates both through its rich colours and the softness of its narrative. The scene, subtly suggested, introduces an almost intimate dimension to an otherwise highly graphic decoration. A fine balance between contemporary expressiveness and traditional craftsmanship.
