The composition and decorative vocabulary of this Khorjin are abundant.
The whole art of ancient Persian weaving is brought together on this flamboyant little treasure.
Khorjins are saddlebags once used by the nomadic populations of Persia. They are often double saddlebags. We can therefore consider this object as a fragment, a single satchel.
The central field is a garden that shelters the fruit of paradise, the Boteh, a drop-shaped motif with a curved tip.
There are also ram's horn motifs that evoke power and fertility.
The borders contain a series of stylized birds that protect the garden creating an impenetrable barrier of protection.
The closing system on the upper part is intact, it is woven. The front is knotted-stitch with a short velvet. The back is woven.
The palette of exclusively plant-based hues is particularly striking, with a wonderful, rare khaki green visible on the back and in certain areas of the front.
