Harlequin-sculpture In Patinated Bronze By Sculptor Charles-rené De Paul De Saint-marceaux 19th
Signed by the iconic foundryman Ferdinand Barbedienne, as well as the mechanical reduction stamp of A. Collas.
Created in 1879, this patinated bronze work depicts the iconic Commedia dell'arte character in a proud, provocative pose, arms crossed, holding a staff (or wooden sword) and sporting his characteristic smile behind the mask. The figure rests on a quadrangular base evoking the boards of a theater stage.
The most famous original castings of this piece were made by the prestigious Paris workshop of Ferdinand Barbedienne and often bear the A. Collas mechanical reduction hallmark.
