A very fine set of four large oil paintings on canvas, 121 cm x 121 cm, framed in their original frames, depicting a lively and festive grape harvest.
I believe these works date from the 1930s.
Signed lower right "Skilling" and presented in their original frames.
On the back, they bear an inventory reference, possibly from the artist or an exhibition: W - 5826.
Biography of William Skilling:
A Californian artist renowned for his portraits and landscapes, he fought in the First World War, then settled in San Francisco where he died on April 8, 1964. He also made copies of works by artists such as Edward Hicks, Parson Fisher, and Giuseppe Arcimboldo.
He notably exhibited at the Oakland Art League in 1928.
Condition: In very good overall condition; the four oil paintings on canvas have been cleaned, as have the frames. We have photos taken before cleaning.
