Rosewood And Rosewood Inlaid Sloping Desk, Louis XV - 18th Century
A magnificent sloping desk in rosewood and rosewood marquetry, from the Louis XV period, which seduces with its flowing form, its elegance and the finesse of its veneer arranged in butterfly wings, offering a warm and refined play of symmetries. The curved flap, held in place by sturdy compasses, opens to reveal green leather adorned with a gilded vignette and delicate motifs at the corners, forming a veritable little writing theater. The interior features four stepped drawers, niches and a secret locker with sliding door, typical of quality desks designed to accommodate correspondence, papers and precious objects.
The lower section is organized around three drawers on the front, all with elaborate bronze entrances, chiselled keys and functional locks, testifying to the care given to every detail. The curved legs, elegantly finished with bronze trim, complete the ensemble and emphasize the supple, harmonious silhouette characteristic of the Louis XV style.
An authentic piece of furniture, decorative and functional, combining charm, craftsmanship and the spirit of the XVIIIᵉ century, ideal for enriching a classic interior or adding a touch of elegance to a contemporary decoration.
