Bronze sculpture with two patinas, signed Georges Van Der Straeten (1856 – 1941) and bearing the stamp of the Bronzes of Paris society. Van Der Straeten is a representative artist of the Belle Époque and the Art Nouveau movement. Of Belgian origin, he worked in Paris where he obtained several awards, attesting to his great technical mastery and the quality of his achievements. The artist has produced a touching work depicting the bust of a smiling and mischievous young Parisian woman. The ingenue, dressed in a draped dress and wearing a wide ribbon holding back her long hair, raises her hand to her face. She laughs shyly, looking mischievous.
