Superb bronze with an elegant date of 1911. Very beautiful patina with sand casting. Hendrik (or Pierre Henri) van Perck was a student of the Mechelen sculptor Jozef Willems and the sculptor Thomas Vinçotte from Borgerhout. From 1900 to 1935, Pierre Henri van Perck was a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Mechelen. One of his students was the sculptor and painter Jan de Smedt (1927-1929). Van Perck lived from 1906 until his death on rue Colonel Van Gele in Etterbeek. In 1893, Hendrik van Perck took part in one of the exhibitions of the Mechelen Guild Sint Lukas, alongside 22 other participants from Mechelen.
