Small Walnut Bookcase – Early 20th Century
This small walnut bookcase, dating from the early 20th century, is topped by an elegant molded cornice and rests on a similarly molded baseboard, emphasizing its architectural proportions.
The upper section is adorned with a remarkable frieze of carved acanthus leaves, while the side panels feature a finely chiseled design of small flowers. The interior features four shelves that are adjustable via slotted rails, allowing the storage space to be easily adapted to accommodate books or objects of various sizes.
A piece that is both functional and decorative, characteristic of early 20th-century walnut furniture, whose rich carving and the warmth of the wood bring a great deal of character.
