Small Half-moon Console In Marble And Gilded Wood, Louis XVI Style – 20th Century
This half-moon wall console in carved giltwood exemplifies the elegance of the Louis XVI style. The apron is adorned with an openwork frieze of finely chiseled ivy tied with ribbons, creating a play of light and shadow. The half-moon top, encircled by a molded edge, is made of green Estours marble, whose rich veining contrasts with the warmth of the gilding. The tapered and fluted legs, with their asparagus-like curves, offer a slender and harmonious silhouette. A curved stretcher connects the legs and supports a central, sculpted finial, which serves as both an aesthetic and structural point of support. The shimmering gilding highlights the details and reinforces the piece's classical character. This console table can be placed under a mirror or between two wall sconces in a refined living room or bedroom. Period: Mid-20th century. Excellent condition after restoration in our workshop.
