Maurice LEBLANC was an artist who painted in the 20th century, enjoying depicting circus scenes and funfairs, mainly in Paris and the Creuse region.
Reference sites put his birth at the end of the 19th century and his death in the 1960s.
It seems that there were several namesakes, so Maurice LEBLANC, author of the Arsène Lupin novels, lived in Gargilesse, Creuse.
In the same town, another painter also named Maurice LEBLANC, (not his real name), died last year.
The world of painting is decidedly mysterious.
This oil painting can be dated to the 1950s - 1960s.
It is signed and located lower left.
It is done on a panel that has been painted on the back, a technique Maurice LEBLANC very often used.
It is presented in its original natural wood frame with gold edging on the inside, very slight scratches on the frame, nothing serious.
