He studied under Cormon, Émile Renard, and P. Laurens. Awarded a gold medal at the Salon in 1931, he received numerous prizes and awards throughout his career. He notably received the Grand Prix of French West Africa and traveled to North Africa and Madagascar, where he painted magnificent portraits. His paintings of young girls are wonderfully vibrant and realistically rendered. They are highly sought after in his oeuvre.
