Bronze De Vienne - Cat Animal Pen Wiper About 1900
Charming and decorative Viennese bronze penwipe depicting a cat au naturel, Austrian work from the late XIXᵉ or early XXᵉ century.
The subject captivates with its lively expression and remarkable textural work in the treatment of the fur, typical of the small quality Viennese bronzes produced around 1900. The cat is depicted with its tail erect and its mouth half-open, in a particularly expressive and animated attitude.
The back features a pen-towel silk trim, formerly replaced by boar bristles, a common restoration on this type of utilitarian object.
Very handsome desk or curiosity object, both refined and unusual, in the spirit of the naturalistic and humorous Viennese productions sought after by enthusiasts today.
Some visible wear and small paint chips, consistent with age.
