Neapolitan Marine In A Storm – Circa 1850

Through its subject, composition, and style, this work fits into the tradition of Neapolitan landscape and seascape painting from the first half of the 19th century, developed notably around the Posillipo School.

We propose a date of around 1850, likely within the 1830s–1850s, though it has not yet been attributed to a specific artist.

The scene still retains a romantic sensibility, particularly evident in the dynamic rendering of the sea and the lively activity of the fishermen in the foreground.

Presented in a beautiful antique wooden frame with gilded stucco and a palmette design.
