Triptych Of Vases In Swedish Green Marble And Gilded Bronze, France, Mid-19th Century
Triptych of vases in Swedish green marble and gilded bronze, France, mid-19th century.
Origin: France
Period: mid-19th century.
The triptych of vases consists of two smaller, identical vases and a main vase with more elaborate decorations.
The two small vases have a rounded shape in both the body and the lid; the two handles on the sides feature refined plant motifs, and the pedestal is also decorated with finely chiseled leafy elements.
The main vase has an even rounder shape and is characterized by splendid gilded handles chiseled in the shape of ram’s heads: note the meticulously crafted details on the animal, such as the band beneath the ears and the vine tendrils surrounding the fur beneath the ram’s chin.
The chosen material, green marble from Sweden, is distinguished by its unique shade of green with veins ranging from dark green to beige and gray.
